[Citizens National Bank Dishes Up Great Customer Service for TJ's Pizza]
Citizens National Bank is proud to have TJ’s Pizza as one of its customers. Lynda Wright, Vice President and Elida Branch Manager, states, “We’re always happy to see TJ come into the bank! We appreciate the fact that he’s a local businessman that has been running a successful restaurant for over 39 years.”
TJ’s Pizza, a family owned and operated business, was started by TJ Askins, in April, 1968. He opened his first store on Bellefontaine Avenue in Lima. In 1974, Askins moved his store to Elida and TJ’s Pizza became the first pizza restaurant in Elida. This is truly a family business, as all of his five children have worked there. Askins reminisces that when one of his sons was five years old, he folded pizza boxes for a penny a box. He says, “That was good money for a five year old in those days!” Today, people from Elida and the surrounding area continue to enjoy TJ’s delicious pizza. Due to low overhead, Askins can offer great pizza at a really good price. Askins employs around 10 people; mostly part time students or retired people. Pizza lovers can call in their order, and their hot-out-of-the-oven pizza is ready to be picked up in only 15 minutes. Customers are greeted by TJ or one of his friendly employees in the store or at the convenient drive-up window when they pick up their order.
Askins has banked with Citizens for over 17 years. He emphasizes the great customer service from the Elida branch staff by saying, “They look out for me and my business. They take the time to get to know me, my business and my employees.” As an example, he points out that the Elida staff verify his daily business transactions for accuracy. Also, Askins states that the Elida staff are very knowledgeable about the bank’s products. He adds that they inform him and his secretary about products and services that can help his business. He feels that the Elida staff are very responsive to questions and always get the information that he and his secretary need in a timely manner. Because of the great customer service and convenient branch location, Askins expanded his relationship with Citizens to include his personal accounts. Additionally, he appreciates the fact that many of the Elida staff live in the area and already know him. He says, “One of the strengths of Citizens is that they are a local bank that is here to stay.”
