In business since 2005, Bates Recycling in Cygnet, OH is a seller and trader of recyclable metals, serving Bowling Green, Toledo, Napoleon, Findlay and Fostoria. As their business has grown, so has their need for a larger facility and offices to manage it. Owner, Chris Bates, realized an expansion would be beneficial to support his future dreams, and turned to his banker, Matt Wood of Citizens National Bank’s Findlay office, to help. “I told Matt what I was hoping to accomplish, and he suggested a construction loan. The whole thing got approved much quicker than I’d anticipated and we were able to move forward,” says Chris. Matt has worked with Bates Recycling several years and understands their business needs. “Oftentimes Chris has to move quickly if a job arises, and a line of credit gives him the flexibility to fund what he needs on the fly. He also benefits from our Online banking services, which allows him to check his accounts 24/7 and make transfers as needed when it’s convenient for him.”

Chris and his wife, Belinda, are committed to the local community and hold an annual recycling event each year on Earth Day at their facility. Bates Recycling partners with WLI and the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce as the main sponsor of the The BG Boom 4^th of July Fireworks. Additionally, they’ve established a scholarship program to aid local high school students interested in pursuing higher education in the trades.
