Economic Forecast 2025: Overview of What's to Come
As we wrap up this year and look ahead to 2025, economist Bob Morgan highlights where he sees the economy heading. He expects a slowdown in Q4 of this year and Q1 of next year with Real GDP below the trend of 2% growth and returning to just above 2% in the final 3 quarters of next year assuming that the Fed eases monetary policy by reducing interest rates. He explains that although inflation has not quite declined to the pre-pandemic growth rate, it is nearing the 2% target that the Fed has set. He also shares that the US job market and incomes are steadily growing along with consumer demand which will help prevent a major recession in the near future. Overall, he’s fairly optimistic for the upcoming year but has a cautious forecast past 2025 as federal debt has reached alarming highs. Mid-Year Outlook 2024 - What does the economy have in store?
Deborah Boisselle, VP of Investments discusses what the 2024 economy has in store. Here we are, at the midpoint of 2024. If we had to provide one word that defines the first half it would be resilience. That resilience has continued to fuel the trends we saw in late 2023 — economic growth mixed with stubborn, but decelerating inflation. It’s tempting to say the growth trajectory will continue, but we believe the economy will soften in the second half, which will naturally have domino effects across the investing arena.

Our 2023 investing outlook started with a theme of returning to normalcy. Considering 2022’s market volatility and the aftereffects of the pandemic, the idea of finding balance was certainly a welcomed change. It’s a theme we could all embrace six months ago and what we will continue to rally around through year-end.
