Putting Down Roots

The Flower & Plant Barn

When Hannah McKee left her hometown more than 20 years ago for corporate America, she didn’t know if she’d be back. However, after working for some of the most successful companies in the world, she really wanted to put down roots and realize her dream of owning her own business. After running an Airbnb in North Carolina, she realized she really enjoyed getting to know her customers and making them happy. When the opportunity to move back home and purchase a local business was presented, she was excited to continue that great customer service at the Flower and Plant Barn in St. Marys, OH. “I always wanted to own my own business,” states McKee. “The Flower and Plant Barn has been in existence for more than 50 years, so it was established. I was able to work with CNB to complete the purchase and also the renovations. It’s been a great relationship,” says McKee.

The Flower and Plant Barn is a flower shop and greenhouse, selling annuals and perennials and growing most of the greenhouse items in-house. Since purchasing the shop in January 2023, she’s completely renovated the main shop and the garden shop. “I’m just trying to breathe some fresh air into the place,” she says. She credits her lender, Andy Rosenbeck, with making the purchase and running the finances of the business easier. “I met with Andy to review the financials for the business prior to purchasing, and he was just a really great guy. He’s always looking out for my best interest,” says McKee.

With the renovations and new products, Hannah hopes to see the Flower and Plant Barn become a gifting destination, a place where people know they can find unique items for their homes and families.
